The semi-hydraulic TR35 top hammer drilling rig, designed specifically for rock blasting operations in open-pit and underground mines. The new model combines proven pneumatic hammer technology with a compact, fuel-efficient hydraulic system, offering a cost-effective solution for medium-scale drilling tasks.

The TR35 stands out for its unique pneumatic-hydraulic hybrid design. While most conventional rigs rely on large, energy-intensive compressors, the TR35 requires compressed air only for the top hammer itself. All other functions – including feed, rotation, and boom movement- are powered by a hydraulic system. This means the rig can be operated with a small, portable air compressor, significantly reducing equipment footprint and initial investment.

Fuel economy is another key selling point. Field tests show that the TR35 consumes just 5 to 10 litres of diesel per hour under normal working conditions, making it one of the most thrifty rigs in its class. The low hourly burn rate translates into substantial savings over a full shift, especially for mines running multiple units.

Dust management has also been addressed. The rig comes factory-fitted with a high-efficiency dust collector that captures particulates at the drill hole, helping operators comply with strict environmental and occupational health regulations without the need for external water spraying systems.

In addition, the TR35 is equipped with a mechanical injector that ensures precise fuel delivery to the engine, further optimising combustion and reducing emissions. The injector’s robust design also minimises maintenance downtime, a critical factor in harsh mining environments.

The machine is being shipped to mine sites in West Africa, where a major customer’s project is already mobilised and waiting for the rigs to break ground. Upon arrival and commissioning, the drills will be put straight to work on blasting operations.
